Where the Murgia degrades, we find the Valle d’Itria, a green pad halfway between the Adriatic and the Ionian and on this plain, surrounded by small hills, overlooking Locorotondo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

This town is perched on a plateau in the southeastern area of the Murge dei Trulli, in the heart of the Valle d’Itria, less than 10 km from Alberobello.

The name Locorotondo indicates the characteristic circular shape of the ancient center of the village, built around the year one thousand, consisting of a group of houses that farmers built on top of the hill, including the typical “cummerse”, sloping roof houses.

Among the white houses of the historic center, completely white, the bell towers of many churches stand out, including the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Holy Spirit, St. Nicholas, St. Roch and the Madonna della Catena. Inside the Church of Santa Maria della Greca there is a Renaissance polyptych dedicated to the Madonna delle Rose and the sculptural group of San Giorgio on horseback.

The wine route that crosses the Valle d’Itria also touches Locorotondo, where you can find an excellent white wine Doc.
